i have windows vista 32-bit and i just recently picked up KoTOR 2 for PC. at first i was getting the problem saying that my video card wasn't up to date with the specs for the game. my video card is a GeForce 9500 and runs every other game (ie: dragon age) i have with perfect acutely that was made after kotor 2. also i have kotor 1 and it runs Perfect on my computer. now since i updated the game with the patch they had i'm getting the error saying i need to install the Original disc in the drive. i have the disk in there and i have no idea what the problem will be. i know it really can't be visit cause i have visit on my laptop and put the game on there and it runs it up to the being cinematic then it says it has an error and crashes. i really want to play this game but don't want to buy an xbox to play it. can anyone help?|||You said that you got KOTOR 1 working perfectly? That means you have the program installed on your pc, right? Ok, this is what I want you to do:
1./ Open your KOTOR 2 folder and make a backup of the file named Mss32.dll to your documents folder (or anywhere else where you will remember where it is)
2./ Go into your program files and open up the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic folder
3./ Put the file named Mss32.dll into your clipboard (ensure that you use copy, not cut)
4./ Open up your KOTOR 2 folder again and replace the Mss32.dll file in there with the copied file from Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
If this doesn't work, backup your KOTOR 2 Saves Directory and reinstall KOTOR 2 without the patch and repeat the above steps.
Because I picked up Star Wars Best of PC before it was discontinued, I got one of the few copies of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic that was made to work with Windows Vista. As such, you may have problems with getting this working, but you shouldn't. I can explain why copying the Mss32.dll file helps if you are interested, but other than that I hope you have fun playing KOTOR 2.
