Bearded dragon help i dont think hes eating?
my new bearded dragon has settled in well, he is about 12" long head to tip of tail. ive no idea of age as the person i bought him of didnt know. and this really bothers me because i think he might of been under fed as he had great big crickets running around all over hes tank plus a few dead ones. they were much to big for him to eat. he did have fresh salad in hes tank. since i brought him home im having problems getting him to eat. he wont eat a cricket unless it sits infront of him, the others scatter behind the rock and logs. im really worried with hes eating so today i have bought a seperate tank to use to just feed him in. so i can see how much he is eating. he only ate 2 very small crickets the whole of today! he ate a tiny bit of lettuce hand fed. he isnt very active he will come to the front of the glass door when he wants to be held/or stroked he seems to enjoy that. he wont bask under the basking lamp, but mostly sits on the log. he sleeps from 8pm till 8am i dont think he wakes in the night i have trouble sleeping and when i wake he is allways in the same posistion eyes closed. he sleeps on/off through the day. he lets me pick him up and is very friendly, ive read that they can get black beard? can any one tell me what this looks like? mine has black colouring under hes beard not all black just patches. but hes beard isnt puffed out. its been like this since i got him.|||He may just be settling in and that may take him a few days. Is he pooping? If not, that could be a reason for not eating, and if thats the case, but him in a bath of warm water, that should move things along.|||Well first..the beard puffing out is ONLY when they're trying to be dominant over something..along with head bobbing up and down(which is cute to watch). But as far as food, he may not like crickets, silly but true, you could always try feeding him Kale...bearded dragons love kale usually.|||Maybe try feeding him "super worms". i think thats what they are called. my friend feeds her those. theyre white.. maybe the last owner hand fed them? my friends beardie also doesnt eat them unless they come right in front of him. have you tried moving the basking area to his log? or the log to his basking area? maybe he just really likes that log! lol also put a rock in his water to keep the crickets from drowning
